A Tribute to Jerry Blanski

We are sorry to announce that long-time board member, Jerry Blanski, passed away December 31, 2020. Jerry joined the board of diretors in 1998 and was a strong supporter of the New Brighton Area Historical Society. You may often have seen him outside our depot museum working on various maintenance tasks, from keeping the grounds clean, weeding our rhubarb patch and flower bed, and repairing the exterior of the depot.

He also organized our yearly rhubarb pull with other volunteers, packaging rhubarb stalks in plastic bags, for sale at our Annual Rhubarb Fest the next day. Any rhubarb that was not sold, he delivered to various senior centers throughout the area.

Jerry also was responsible for taking our historical books to sell at the City of New Brighton and Beisswengers Hardware. He then each month picked up the sales and reported back to the board on how many books had been sold that month. 

And he was always ready to help out the society in any way. We will miss him greatly.
